Meridian Ms. Stuckys Bridge Historical & Haunted site.

There's a bridge in Meridian, Ms called Stuckys bridge which was named after a man named Stucky.

HISTORY

The bridge was built over the Chunky River around 1850 & rebuilt in 1901. A man named Stucky who was a member of the Dalton Gang. Stucky owned an inn not to far from the bridge. When people would come & stay over night he would rob & murder them, then bury the bodies on the river bank under the bridge. When the town found out about it they hung Stucky over the bridge. The bridge became a list as a Mississippi land mark on August 4, 1984.

Some people like to go out & camp under the bridge. As far as I know the bridge is still drivable. But there is a sign a few miles from one end of the bridge that says bridge is closed. So cross at your own risk if you do so. Its over 100 years old.

THE WAY I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE BRIDGE

The pictures above were taken in 2009 & the pictures below were taken in 2008 when I was doing paranormal research. I was looking for places around Mississippi to investigate, something different than a building like I had normally been doing. I love old wooden bridges. It makes great photography. So I googled haunted bridges in Mississippi & that's how I found out about the bridge.

PARANORMAL HISTORY

Its been said that if you go out there around 12:00 a.m. sometimes you can see a shadow figure of a man on the bridge. Some have seen a light walking under the bridge, as well as on the bridge. Some say you can see Stucky's shadow hanging over the bridge & sometimes hear a splash from when they cut the rope.

MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

So its been said that the bridge was haunted. So me & some friends went out to investigate. This was our 1st time to go to the bridge. we live about an hour & a half away from Meridian. So we left about 12 for just in case we got lost looking for the bridge we'd have time to look for it. So we head out & we road around down some really long dark wooded roads until we came upon a road called Stuckys Rd. So we turned on it & not even 2 secs aways from the road there was a small gate. Well since it was pitch black in the middle of nowhere in surrounded by woods & we didn't know for sure if the bridge was there I turned around & we drove around for a minute again. We stopped to get gas & I was able to view my map on my GPS & find a road that was near Stucky Bridge Road & set that as our destination & took off. I had remembered that the Internet said that you turn next to a church & after pass the church the road turns to a one way dirt road. We finally found it about 4 am. We started going down the road wondering & hoping we come upon this bridge because it was pretty long road. So we finally came upon the bridge.

We parked in front of it & got out. I kept my head lights & we walked on to the bridge waiting for something to happen.

like I said earlier its been said that you can see a man figure walking on the bridge with a lantern, you can hear a splash in the water from they cut the rope from when he was hung, its been said that you can see a light glowing under the bridge. But it being said that people camp down there, it could be a person. They also said that you can see Stuckys shadow hanging on the bridge. Well didn't see or hear anything like that. Though we did experience something & got some crazy pictures. The 1st picture is a picture of the bridge when we 1st pulled up. The 2nd pic is a picture of us walking on the bridge. You can kind of see a foggy mist in the middle of the bridge.When we got to the middle of the bridge I kept hearing something behind me. I thought it was an animal. So I turned & snapped a picture & got this mist.Then turned around & snapped a picture in front of me & got the thick smoke. A few secs after I heard an angry moan. Sounded like a man groaning. Well the 1st thing I thought was animal. So I got a little freaked out, but ignored it. The heard it again & I asked my 2 friends that were with me if they heard that noise they said no. Then it sounded like something hit my truck & we all turned around & just stood there for a minute waiting for an animal to pop out. Well we looked at each other & decide that we were just going to make a run for it & hope nothing got us. Well when we get right to the truck it sounded like something punched while making that loud angry MMMMMMM sound. So I snapped a picture of my truck while my friends were getting in the truck & got this mist. [My truck was turned off & had been turnede off for awhile so it wasn't exhaust from my truck.]

I haven't been back to the bridge at night since then. I've been during the day. But I'm not a big fan of dark woods. But I wouldn't mind going back & doing another investigation & seeing what we get. [This investigation took place on Janurary 19, 2008]
